The NCR Dolphins set a PMSL, Whitehall Pool and Team Record in the Girls 9-18 200 Meter Medley Relay in 2:09.12. Swimmers: Emma Varner, Stephanie Goldbeck, Kendall Irish and Hannah Betman.

It was the top swimmers vs the top swimmers in all of the Prince-Mont Swim League on a hot, sunny Saturday morning at Whitehall Pool and Tennis Club in Bowie. The NCR Dolphins of Division "C" showed the league that they are among the elite swimmers in the area with stunning, outstanding performances, setting two league records (one relay, one individual), three team away records during the event and three first place finishes and seventeen top 2 through 10 finishes (and only having swimmers in 18 of the 49 total events...pretty good for an 0-5 team!).

The Eleanor Roosevelt Quad of Emma Varner, Stephanie Goldbeck, Kendall Irish and Hannah Betman blew away the competition in the Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay to open the onslaught in a league record breaking performance of 2:09.12 to establish a record that may not be broken for some time. They beat a very fast team from Takoma Park by almost 6 seconds, which in this race is a lot.

Kendall Irish then won the Girls 15-18 Fly beating some heady competition from Marissa Gentry of Takoma Park, outtouching her by .19 at the wall in a time of 30.64, just missing the league record by less than a second. It was Kendall's last fly swim for NCR, and she picked a great time to show her stuff to the hundreds gathered at the event.

In her last race for NCR, Stephanie Goldbeck broke the league record, Whitehall pool record and home away meet record in the Girls 15-18 Breaststroke, setting the new mark at 34.63. That record was set in 1991 by Ruth Kominski of Strathmore Bel-Pre (as was the pool record). Her closest competition was Amina Wilson of Takoma Park, and she was almost 4 seconds behind Stephanie at the finish. Way to end your Dolphin's career, Steph. Congratulations!

In the 13-14 Boys Breaststroke, Patrick Sheerin came in a close second, just being outtouched by James Michael of MVP in 35.85, but set a new NCR Away Meet record. The old record was set in 1988 by Steve Quinn, and was one of the oldest records on our board. Congratulations, Patrick on a great swim!

NCR captures 2nd at Divisionals
A great day for all NCR swimmers! The "C" Divisionals for the Prince-Mont Swim League (PMSL) were held at the New Carrollton Pool Saturday, and NCR placed 2nd with 217 point behind Division leader Adelphi. Even though NCR lost all 5 dual meets, their individual and relay strength helped carry the day.

There were 4 pool records set during the meet (3 set by NCR swimmers), and 5 Home meet records set. Way to go Dolphins!

The Boys 200 Medley Relay set a new NCR Home Meet record with a 2:20.60 time performance by Michael Dunn, Patrick Sheerin, Phillip Fava and Danny Sheerin. The Girls 200 Medley Relay also set a new POOL and Home team record at 2:16.50 swimming the former Eleanor Roosevelt quad of Emma Varner, Stephanie Goldbeck, Kendall Irish and Hannah Betman. These girls are ranked number 1 in all of Prince-Mont for All Stars, and could set the NEW record for the relay event.

Also, on the individual side, congratulations to Kendall Irish who set a new POOL and Home team record for her 50 meter Fly in 31.46, besting her own July 11th performance. Stephanie Goldbeck also set a new standard for both POOL and Home meet records by going 35.62 in the 50 meter Breast, passing her own July 11th mark. In the Boys 13-14 Breast, Patrick Sheerin erased the former 1991 record held by David Basile for a new Home team mark, by swimming the 50 meter Breast in 37.85. Congratulations swimmers. Well done!
