The initial seeding for next weeks All Star event has been released. And the number of NCR swimmers on the list has increased!
The final seedings come out on Tuesday after 8pm (the scratch deadline). So some of the alternate entries my get elevated to a spot in the meet. Stay tuned!
Congratulations to our All Stars! With the 2024 Division E Divisional Meet in the books, the 2024 season is near an end. All that remains is the All-Star meet. But before we talk about that, let's give some results from the Divisional Meet! The NCR Dolphins entered the meet seeded third in the division and wrapped up the meet with a third place finish, racking up 198.5 points: PGC: 348 LC: 313 NCR: 198.5 MC: 187 PR: 125.5 Complete meet results are available on the 2024 Meet Results page Seeing Blue Divisional meets often don't see individual swimmers competing in three events, but even so, there were five swimmers who not only competed in three individual events, but won all three. Four of those swimmers were with the Laurel City Kingfish (An Bui, Allen Bui, Ari Jenkins, and Brayden Li). The fifth was our very own Dolphin, Gabriel Bailey! Congrats to all! Good thing these aren't vinyl!A crazy number of records were broken (or tied) at the divisional meet. Twenty NCR Pool records (with the 25m Bulkhead), 13 NCR Team (bulkhead) Records, and even a couple PGC Team records. In all 35 records were broken (well one was tied) at the meet! But the story isn't over... All Stars field 3 full heats of each event, and division winners only account for one of the three...so it is possible (given some of the times achieved, likely) that more NCR Dolphins will make the cut. The NCR Dolphins came to compete, but fell to Laurel City by a final score of 330 - 235. Despite the loss, many NCR swimmers put up their best time for the season. Our first away meet of the season was against our neighbors to the north, the Montpelier Marlins. It was a back and forth meet all morning, and in the end the Dolphins swam to a 272-272 tie with the Marlins! By league rules for the tie-breaker (most first place finishes at the meet), NCR edged out MC with 25 first place finishes (to 24 for MC).. Way to go Dolphins! It was a close one, proving that every swim counts. When it was all said and done, eight swimmers went home with triple blue ribbons, four from each team! It has been a while since NCR competed against MC so next week will be a fun trip up north. We finish the season at Laurel City. Laurel City is one of the larger teams in our division, so the last meet will be a challenging one. ...but we know our Dolphins are up to the task!
