Fast forward to 48 years to July 19, 2025 and that anthem rings out for your NCR Dolphins! Not only did the Dolphins take top of the podium for the meet, but, yes indeed, we ARE the champions of Division E! The final score for the meet: NCR: 277 MC: 246 RST: 233 TP: 221 NR: 186 Complete meet results (along with our win over Montpelier last week...sorry for not posting earlier!) can be found on our 2025 Meet Results page. Given the stiff competition, it is extra special to note that two Dolphins took home Triple Blue. Congratulations go to Arianna Biondi and Xavier Bailey! Montpelier swimmers Kaz Reeves and Carlos Idol as well as Russet swimmer Julianna Rios share this honor with our Dolphins. That's a wrap for the regular season, but swimming has one more week. Next week the PMSL All Star meet will be held at the Whitehall Pool and Tennis Club in Bowie. Winners of their events at the Divisional Meet get an automatic berth, with the remaining field based on times achieved at the Divisional Meet. Stay Tuned to see how many Dolphins get another week of practice! NCR battled NR on a beautiful Saturday morning in July (is it really July?!!!) The Northridge Swim Team swam well, but the NCR Dolphins came away with another win! The final combined score: NCR 291 NR 235 The complete meet results are available on the 2025 Results page As with past meets, this one had a few outstanding swimmers who took the blue ribbon home for all three of their individual events. Four meets are already in the books. We have one more regular season meet next week before we head into the Divisional Meet. Next week, the Montpelier Marlins come to NCR. Let's cheer on the Dolphins for another win. Right now, the team has one loss but has won three in a row. It would be great to go into the Divisional meet on a 4 and 0 run!
This week we traveled south to Waldorf to swim against the Bannister Barracudas. Despite the long trip and a reduced attendance due to conflicts and illnesses, the Dolphins prevailed over the Barracudas by the score of 301 to 144. So, we were supposed to be on the road again swimming against Takoma Park in DC. But, circumstances led to the meet being held at NCR...so we swam away...at home! It was a hot day, but our NCR Dolphins wouldn't let the "home" team win in our home pool! NCR took the win! NCR: 296 TP; 241 Complete results can be found on the 2025 result page. The first meet of the 2025 season is a wrap. Your NCR Dolphins took the show on the road this week to Russett Community Center a short ride up the BWI Parkway. It was a close for much of the meet, but the Russett Sharks edged the Dolphins out with a score of 295 to 257. Full results have been posted.
Three swimmers took triple-blue at the meet, two Sharks and a Dolphin: Juliana Rios and Zachary Markovitz of Russett and our own Arianna Biondi. Congratulations! We're on the road again next week, traveling to the District to meet the Takoma Park Allstars. Come out to cheer on your Dolphins! The initial seeding for next weeks All Star event has been released. And the number of NCR swimmers on the list has increased!
The final seedings come out on Tuesday after 8pm (the scratch deadline). So some of the alternate entries my get elevated to a spot in the meet. Stay tuned!
Congratulations to our All Stars! With the 2024 Division E Divisional Meet in the books, the 2024 season is near an end. All that remains is the All-Star meet. But before we talk about that, let's give some results from the Divisional Meet! The NCR Dolphins entered the meet seeded third in the division and wrapped up the meet with a third place finish, racking up 198.5 points: PGC: 348 LC: 313 NCR: 198.5 MC: 187 PR: 125.5 Complete meet results are available on the 2024 Meet Results page Seeing Blue Divisional meets often don't see individual swimmers competing in three events, but even so, there were five swimmers who not only competed in three individual events, but won all three. Four of those swimmers were with the Laurel City Kingfish (An Bui, Allen Bui, Ari Jenkins, and Brayden Li). The fifth was our very own Dolphin, Gabriel Bailey! Congrats to all! Good thing these aren't vinyl!A crazy number of records were broken (or tied) at the divisional meet. Twenty NCR Pool records (with the 25m Bulkhead), 13 NCR Team (bulkhead) Records, and even a couple PGC Team records. In all 35 records were broken (well one was tied) at the meet! But the story isn't over... All Stars field 3 full heats of each event, and division winners only account for one of the three...so it is possible (given some of the times achieved, likely) that more NCR Dolphins will make the cut. The NCR Dolphins came to compete, but fell to Laurel City by a final score of 330 - 235. Despite the loss, many NCR swimmers put up their best time for the season. Our first away meet of the season was against our neighbors to the north, the Montpelier Marlins. It was a back and forth meet all morning, and in the end the Dolphins swam to a 272-272 tie with the Marlins! By league rules for the tie-breaker (most first place finishes at the meet), NCR edged out MC with 25 first place finishes (to 24 for MC).. Way to go Dolphins! It was a close one, proving that every swim counts. When it was all said and done, eight swimmers went home with triple blue ribbons, four from each team! It has been a while since NCR competed against MC so next week will be a fun trip up north. We finish the season at Laurel City. Laurel City is one of the larger teams in our division, so the last meet will be a challenging one. ...but we know our Dolphins are up to the task!
